Dull Hearts -- August 3, 2009

Now a certain man was there who had an infirmity thirty-eight years. When Jesus saw him lying there, and knew that he already had been in that condition a long time, He said to him, “Do you want to be made well? ”The sick man answered Him, “Sir, I have no man to put me into the pool when the water is stirred up; but while I am coming, another steps down before me.” Jesus said to him, “Rise, take up your bed and walk.” And immediately the man was made well, took up his bed, and walked. And that day was the Sabbath. The Jews therefore said to him who was cured, “It is the Sabbath; it is not lawful for you to carry your bed.”
John 5:5-10

The man who had been crippled for 38 years was miraculously healed and all that the Jews could see and say was that a law had been broken? How crazy is that? They had so hardened their hearts to the fact that Jesus could possibly be the Messiah that they couldn’t even see the miracle before them! Talk about people whose hearts have grown dull and who have shut their eyes and ears.

Have we hardened our hearts to the miracles of God? Do we chalk it up to “good luck” or coincidences; or could we have witnessed the blessings of God? He wants to bless us. He wants to heal us. I have seen miracles! I have seen healings! God is still capable of doing this today and now. We need to make room for Him to move and when He does thank Him, give Him the praise and the glory.

Lord, heal my heart; open my eyes to what You are doing. Help me look past the way I think things should be done so that I can see You and Your ways.

Clear Sight Comes From A Bright Heart,

Pastor Jason
