Dead With Him -- June 16, 2009

If ye died with Christ from the rudiments of the world, why, as though living in the world, do ye subject yourselves to ordinances, handle not, nor taste, nor touch (all which things are to perish with the using), after the precepts and doctrines of men? Which things have indeed a show of wisdom in will-worship, and humility, and severity to the body; (but are) not of any value against the indulgence of the flesh.
Colossians 2:20-23(ASV)

Did you die with Christ? Are you separated from the basic principals of this world? Then why do we care what others think? Isn't that just another form of worshipping something besides the Creator?

Why do we let others dictate our lives to us? Why do we let the people who like us the least have the most say? Why don't we let the One who has the most love for us have the most input into our lives? And most of all, why do we think we can fix ourselves?

I think it is time to put temporary laws and rules behind us. As scripture teaches us, the Law was a school teacher for us when we were children. Now we are required to grow up into Christ and become the people He has called us to be.

Pressing Toward the Goal,

Pastor Jason
