He Is Faithful -- May 9, 2009

O God, You have taught me from my youth;
And to this day I declare Your wondrous works.
Now also when I am old and grayheaded,
O God, do not forsake me,
Until I declare Your strength to this generation,
Your power to everyone who is to come.
Psalm 71:17-18

When I read this today it perfectly reflected my heart. I have known Jesus for forty of my forty-seven years. He has led my throughout it all to bring me to a place of wonder. I have never turned back – only gone forward. Failed; yes. Flailed; occasionally. Fallen; sometimes. Forsake Him; never! From the time I was able I have declared Him to everyone.

With the psalmist, I pray for God’s strength to carry me to the end of my life’s mission. I ask for God to protect me from those who would stop me from that mission so that I can stay focused on the task He has given me and not be tangled in worldly affairs. Like Nehemiah, who refused to talk with his enemies because he was on a mission to rebuild God’s kingdom. (Nehemiah 6:1-4)

Thank you, Jesus, for entrusting with any work at all in your kingdom! May I be faithful to the very end. I know You will be faithful to me. I return the trust you have placed on me. Allow me to be a blessing to the generation I serve.

From My Youth!
