Songs Of Salvation -- May 8, 2009

You shall surround me with songs of deliverance.
Psalm 32:7

Deliverance is a tremendous word of the Scriptures. It is a broadly inclusive term which describes: forgiveness of sin; redemption from eternal death; recovery of physical health; release from spiritual bondage; and rescue from difficult situations. Our Savior, Jesus is truly our Deliverer, for the essence of the meaning of salvation is deliverance.

When we read of songs of deliverance, we need to recognize the potential promise of such power has been put on human lips. David sang and Saul was relieved of demonic oppression; Jehoshaphat’s choir sang and their enemies were conquered; Paul and Silas sang and an earthquake shook their bonds free and their captor into God’s kingdom. Songs of deliverance are real instruments of divine grace.

As we sing songs of worship this morning, let each one be more than a ritual. Psalm 22:22 tells us to praise God in the congregation to our brothers. When we praise Jesus, we are singing songs of deliverance to the sister next to us who needs deliverance. We are setting free that brother across the room who has been struggling with temptation this week. We are helping the couple who has been under direct demonic attack in the course of their taking care of the necessary demands of life. Sing those songs of deliverance! Let God arise and His enemies be scattered!

Lift the testimonies of the King who has come, and let the Holy Spirit fill your praise until they become songs of deliverance for the King is here!

Delivered in His Presence!
