"Now all these things happened to them as examples, and they were written for our admonition, upon whom the ends of the ages have come. …Therefore, whether you eat or drink, or whatever you do, do all to the glory of God."
1 Corinthians 10:11 & 31NKJV
1 Corinthians 10:11 & 31NKJV
We have a great lesson in this chapter. The Children of Israel were free from Egypt and had a great shepherd. Moses was trained in all the ways of Egypt and then had forty years of humility training in the desert. He was truly the most perfect leader they could hope for. He knew all the strategies of the Egyptians and he was familiar with surviving in the desert while keeping livestock alive. On top of this he had God’s hand on him. His spiritual credentials were just as impressive as his material ones. He had faced down Pharaoh’s magicians, commanded the plagues of Egypt and led them out of the city and through the Red Sea. God’s presence was manifest in a pillar of cloud by day and fire by night. Yet here Paul tells us that God was not pleased with most of them.
God scattered them in the desert as a warning to us not to lust after evil things. They were carried by their carnality into sins and rebellion. They were not content with all that God provided. We are no more tempted than they according to this chapter. Paul exhorts us to glorify God in the very basics of life – eating and drinking. We need to take God’s written record seriously.
I have great confidence in God's people “upon whom the end of the ages as come.” I know Jesus is your hearts’ goal. You are pursuing Him with passion. Because of this I know WE WILL change our world!
For His Glory!
