Avoiding Accountability -- March 26, 2009

"For if we would judge ourselves, we would not be judged. But when we are judged, we are chastened by the Lord, that we may not be condemned with the world."
1 Corinthians 11:31-32NKJV

This is a great opportunity from the Lord. We can avoid His judgment in our lives by taking responsibility for the account of our own life. Rest assured that at some point God will audit our lives. But even then we are not condemned. On the contrary, God judges us now so that we can avoid the condemnation the world will receive in the final judgment.

I think this is a concern for the church in the U. S. We don’t like to be examined or challenged very much. God will not condemn His people, but he will judge us and chastise us for our own benefit. That way we will be able to spend eternity with Him. Even the discipline of the Lord is for our benefit. It is to insure that we do not suffer the condemnation of the world system that we live in.

I challenge us to examine ourselves honestly. Cry out with David for the Lord to show us any wicked ways so that we can repent before our Father. When we are seeking Him with our whole hearts then we will find Him and the future He has planned for our good!

Safe in His Judgment,

Pastor Jason
