Unchanging To The Uttermost -- July 10, 2009

But He, because He continues forever, has an unchangeable priesthood. Therefore He is also able to save to the uttermost those who come to God through Him, since He always lives to make intercession for them.
Hebrews 7:24-25

The priests of the old covenant had to change the administration of the law because the priests kept dying, but Jesus is not the same kind of priest. He is a priest not by law through inheritance. He is High Priest by the power of unending life. This means that His new priesthood will never change because Jesus will never change because He will never die. His ministry will continue to intercede for us through our eternity.

This makes Jesus capable of saving us to the uttermost. I like this word uttermost. It means the farthest most extreme fashion. Jesus can save us from the most extreme sins and can bring us to the most extreme relationship with the Father so that we are always with Him. It is this new close relationship with the Father that is the point of our faith.

Uttermost isn’t just a quantity word. It tells about the quality of our salvation in Christ. We are saved to the core; in the deepest, most remote places in our being’s healing has been provided. As we allow Jesus to progress through our lives by allowing others access to who we really are, we can become whole together. God has planned this for us. Confess your sin to one another and pray for each other. Then healing will come. Then you will be receiving the unchangeable priesthood that will transform you into the image the Father has in mind for you.

Saved to the Uttermost,

Pastor Jason
