For we have become partakers of Christ if we hold the beginning of our confidence steadfast to the end, while it is said: "Today, if you will hear His voice, Do not harden your hearts as in the rebellion."
Hebrews 3:14-15
If we hold onto our deep convictions concerning our salvation in Jesus, we will have begun partaking of Christ. That means we are joining the Messiah. We are participating in His anointing to save, heal and bind up broken hearts by the same Spirit He did. We have been rescued in Christ, are protected in Christ and empowered in Christ. His anointing has removed sin’s power over us and re-birthed us into His kingdom. The enemies of our soul (the world, the flesh and the devil) are restrained and can only test us as He allows. Now when we function by His Spirit we are at our best. All of these mighty blessings of deliverance are gained by holding on to the original gospel that Christ died once for all destroying sins’ hold over us and that anyone who believes in that is saved by the very act of faith in God’s grace.
The key to this is that we do not harden our hearts for this day. Our first commitment is to be in relationship with Him; to listen to Him. We can’t afford to grow calloused to the Spirit we need Him to give us the power to live and to lead us to a heavenly reward. Steadfast to the end, one day at a time, is the way we hold onto till the end. We can be filled with the Spirit everyday as we fellowship with God in devotional time and prayers. The clear message is that we can only count on today’s needs being met during “Today”. The way we get our spiritual needs met is to stay able to hear him with softened hearts while it is still today. We can’t afford to wait till tomorrow to address our need for God. This applies to us whether we are believers or not and it applies no matter how long you have known Jesus or how mature you think you are.
Eternal life is part of our partaking of Christ. Our eternal life begins when we accept Him as our Savior. I say this because too many believers are waiting for heaven to begin living eternally with our Father when Jesus died so that we could begin now. As we hold onto our sensitivity to the Spirit by maintaining a humble attitude we defeat our final enemy death and can plan for a life that will never end.
Holding Steadfast,
Pastor Jason
