Revealing Mysteries -- June 21, 2009

And without controversy great is the mystery of godliness:

God was manifested in the flesh,
Justified in the Spirit,
Seen by angels,
Preached among the Gentiles,
Believed on in the world,
Received up in glory.
1 Timothy 3:16

Paul quotes this early hymn in the church to make sure the mystery of godliness is known to Timothy so Timothy will be prepared to lead the church. Here is the mystery which means unrevealed knowledge revealed.

Jesus came to our world as a full-blooded human. He was tired, hungry, lonely and at times angry. The difference? He never sinned. Jesus was approved as the Savior by God. His justification is verified by His resurrection. He was in heavenly places following the resurrection so that the angels saw Him. The apostles preached Him to the world – even us gentiles. We believed on Him all over the world. Then He rose into heaven so we could be sure of His return.

There is no controversy in the scriptures about what the mystery is. It is that Jesus would come in the fullness of time to save us all if we would accept it. This good news is to the entire world. It applies to all who believe. When the conflicts of life come it is the power to have victory over them.

Believing on Him in this World,

Pastor Jason
