“The secret things belong to the Lord our God, but those things which are revealed belong to us and to our children forever, that we may do all the words of this law.”
Deuteronomy 29:29
One of the curses (Deut. 28:32) is that our sons and daughters will be given to a different people - this happens all the time today. People who are believers raise their children only to find them belonging to the unbelievers, a different people. Some are captured by denying our faith others by the practical way they live. It is heartbreaking to see godly parents lose the children they love to the world. One of the cures for this (it isn’t a simple, one-dimensional problem) is to live fully in the revealed things of God.
We don’t know the secret or hidden things of the workings of the word we live in or of the world to come. We just don’t know the why and how everything works. BUT we do know the things that God has revealed to us. This passage tells us that God has given us these things for us and for our children forever. We are to use these revealed things to our advantage and to teach them to our children to use for theirs.
We can, according to the section of scripture around this verse, leave our children a better inheritance than the one we received by opening the heavens for rains of blessing to fall in the right seasons of our lives to bless our work and increase our productivity (fruitfulness). When we live according to the revelation, we open up the leadership potential in ourselves. We become candidates to be the head and not the tail. By following the revelation and showing our children the benefits of following it we insure that His praise will be from generation to generation.
Taking What Belongs To Me,
Pastor Jason
