and the rest, some on boards and some on parts of the ship. And so it was that they all escaped safely to land.
Acts 27:42
Acts 27:42
Some of Paul’s fellow travelers made it to shore on boards and parts of the ship but they all escaped safely to land. This reminded me of Paul’s writing in Philippians when he said to arm ourselves with the same mind that Christ had so we would be ready to suffer. Paul on his way to Rome suffered many hardships and trials but he knew he would make it even if what he was traveling on were on broken pieces of the boat. We need to remind ourselves that in Christ we are safe in the end even when our ship is broken.
Many of us in the body of Christ face difficulties and challenges as great as Paul’s and all of us face some challenge or the other throughout our lives. Our enemy the devil is like a roaring lion looking for weakness to assault. We must recognize that sometimes he finds our flank and attacks. We must bring our shield of faith to bear in these times and remember that Jesus will get us safely to heaven even if we come from broken lives. What the enemy means to end our journey Jesus uses to get us safely home.
No matter what the enemy does, we will get there if we stay with Jesus. No matter the burdens of this life Paul tells us in another place they are not comparable with the riches of God’s glory and grace which He promises to pour out on us throughout eternity.
Headed Home No Matter What,

Jason, this reminds me of a quote I read many years ago... "Let the problems of this life drive you to have more confidence in Your God, not less." There are certainly times when I feel like I'm clinging to a piece of wreckage, trying to stay afloat, but thankfully I am often reminded that He is in charge of me and He will bring me safely home.
