I am the Lord your God, who brought you out of the land of Egypt, that you should not be their slaves; I have broken the bands of your yoke and made you walk upright.
Leviticus 26:13
Leviticus 26:13
The Lord brought out of the world so that we would no longer serve sin as slaves. He broke of the burdens of bondage so we could stand up in His image. The Lord precedes this proclamation with a conditional promise of blessing if the children of Israel will follow His ways instead of the ways of Egypt or the way Canaan. God did not deliver them so they could continue their lives bound to the Egyptians in their lifestyles.
The same is true of us. Jesus didn’t die for us so we could continue on in our bondage to sin. He freed us so we could stand up to walk in His image. God’s love is unconditional – His blessing is conditional. He can only prosper us as our soul prospers.
I encourage us all to throw off our slavery. Arise! Shine! Jesus has opened the way for us to be like Him! We no longer owe the world, our flesh, or the enemy of our souls any allegiance. They no longer have power over us. Our yoke is broken. We are free.
