They Rush On The Wall -- January 26, 2009

When the Day of Pentecost had fully come, they were all with one accord in one place. And suddenly there came a sound from heaven, as of a rushing mighty wind, and it filled the whole house where they were sitting.
Acts 2:1-2

Strong’s Greek-English Dictionary tells us being in one accord means: unanimous, having mutual consent, being in agreement, group unity, having one mind and purpose. This word is always used in the New Testament to show harmony that leads to Spirit-led action.

The disciples had intellectual unanimity, emotional rapport and a volitional agreement. It was at this moment that the Holy Spirit suddenly moved on them, in them and among them. It seems to me that the Spirit was waiting for the moment they were in one accord and hurried in before it was gone. God is waiting for us to come to the same place the disciples did. He wants us to get together on our doctrine, our relationships, and our will to change our community. Then He will rush in among us to work in and through us as a community of believers.

This unified, Spirit-empowered community is what is we need to see marriages come together, families and individuals healed, and churches see the signs and wonders that bring them the respect of the community at large. I invite you to get involved in your local body so that you can unite with them. This will give churches an opportunity to come to unity as the members dialogue and struggle through differences. When we reach agreement in any area then the Spirit can work through us to bring wholeness to ourselves and then to those around us. Our passion and desire to see people come to Christ and to healthy lifestyles can only be realized when we come together and unify in our approach. I pray for the expression of the Body of Christ where you meet to arrive at this simple unity so that we can change our world.

Waiting With You,

Pastor Jason

  1. as I was doing my devotions and reading your blog i felt the lord put it in my heart that us as believers need to relay the gospel of Christ to those who dont know Him. I believe each one believer has his or her own unique way in letting others know about Jesus. Being of "one accord" and having the same mind set about the "truth" is important in relaying the same gospel that all the apostles preached, by "rightly dividing the truth" to all who dont know who Jesus is and why He came, and not leaving out the importance of Gods sacred word "The Holy Bible". Each believer is equally important in "edifying" and equiping his or her church and community, by the gifts God has given them therefore working in unity. The scripture that comes to mind is this one, "from the whole body joined and knit together by what every joint supplies, according to the effective working by which every part does its share, causes growth of the body for edyfying itself in love" Ephesians 4:16 This comment, I hope reflects all of us who love Christ and want to lead others to Him, including every church big or small, "Proclaiming Gods Message to All the World, Through His Son, Jesus Christ".
