But the more they afflicted them, the more they multiplied and grew. And they were in dread of the children of Israel.
Exodus 1:12
Exodus 1:12
This principle applied to God’s people from their beginning. God has blessed His people with this effect. He has done it not just groups but for individuals. For example, Joseph’s own brother tormented him but he kept being blessed. Saul hunted David right onto the throne. The forces of evil on this world actually killed Jesus to bring about the greatest blessing of all – our salvation. This continued into the New Testament era. As the church was scattered in persecution it didn’t just grow it multiplied. When we look at our history, one might say that persecution is the suitable workout for His people.
It still applies to us as a principle and as a promise. Jesus has promised to never leave or forsake us. Paul tells that God works in all things for our good; and we are pressed but not broken. We can be knocked down but never destroyed because greater is God in us than Satan in the world.
I need to keep this promise close to heart. I need to remember the greater the struggle the greater the increase in my person/group. If I can hold onto this promise in the dark time, I will be able to continue with good cheer as Jesus instructed us to do during persecution because we recognize His ultimate victory.
Growing In Him,
Pastor Jason
