Thomas said to Him, “Lord, we do not know where You are going, and how can we know the way?” Jesus said to him, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me. “If you had known Me, you would have known My Father also; and from now on you know Him and have seen Him.”
John 14:5-7
Jesus is not some way; he is not a truth, or any life. He is THE way, THE truth, and THE life. Without Him we don’t know where we are going. He defines the truth by His very person. Separate from Him is only death. Jesus also makes the extraordinary claim to be the only access point to God. It is hard to ignore what Jesus is saying here. All others are false connections to God or He is.
Today many want to know a way to God. They want to live with a truth that fits their idea of who He is. They want a life that is centered in them instead of Christ. They think they will find an answer somewhere inside of themselves when there is only brokenness without Jesus. Unfortunately this attitude is even found in believers.
We want to solve our own problems so we can be good enough to impress the Father on our own. We turn to our own ways, thoughts, and conduct to escape from circumstances the Father has put in our lives to mold us into the image of Christ. Let’s commit to following Him, knowing Him, and living like Him. Then we can know the Father for ourselves through His life.
Coming To The Father Through Him,
Pastor Jason
