For sin shall not have dominion over you, for you are not under law but under grace.
Romans 6:14
Romans 6:14
Here is the key to our holy walk. We are not under the law; we are under grace. Our sin nature no longer has sole access to the impulses that drive our lives. Now, by grace, we can give His Spirit access to the new us. We can choose where we place our bodies to serve. Thanks to grace we can now use our bodies to serve God. We are not stuck under sin. In practicality, though we are now free, we can present our bodies to be the slaves of God or sin. As believers we are legally “owned” by God. As free moral agents we can submit to who we want. (Romans 6:16-18)
Walking in holiness/righteousness is a matter of bringing our body to service/obedience to God because of the grace He has poured out one us. It is not an issue of being good enough for Him to love us or even like us more. He already loved us so much He sent His Son to die for us. Wherever we present ourselves for service is where we are slaves, in fact. Even though we have been set free by grace we can choose to eat at the pig trough. Our Father is waiting for us to move towards Him so He can run to meet us.
There are a few areas of my life that I have submitted to sin that I am tired of serving. Lord, I am asking for a new heart in these areas. Open my eyes to the slavery being perpetrated upon me through my fleshly desire to feel good/comfortable/excited and so on. I submit myself to You in obedience. Let me fill my time with presenting myself to you so that I won’t be enslaving myself to the sin of my flesh.
Under His Dominion,
Pastor Jason
