Count Us Worthy -- May 17, 2009

Therefore we also pray always for you that our God would count you worthy of this calling, and fulfill all the good pleasure of His goodness and the work of faith with power, that the name of our Lord Jesus Christ may be glorified in you, and you in Him, according to the grace of our God and the Lord Jesus Christ.
2 Thessalonians 1:11-12

I am praying for those I serve this morning. As I prepare for our service this morning I echo Paul’s desire for the congregation at Thessalonica. Lord, count us worthy of Your calling. Fulfill Your good pleasure to its fullness in us. Let the work of faith in us be effective so that Your glory shows up in our lives (2 Corinthians 3:18) and that we show up in You by Your Father’s grace along with Your grace.

I believe that Jesus will answer this prayer for the body I serve as well as any other body who will pursue Him. That is why I show up every Sunday to worship, preach, pray, minister to the family, and receive ministry from them in turn. Without this conviction I don’t see how any of us could hang in there and fulfill the calling He has opened for us.

Lord, for Your glory, work by faith effectively to form Christ in us. Pour out Your grace on us all. It is only according Your grace that we will succeed in following You. We are open to you fulfilling Your good pleasure. Bless us Lord, so that we will have resources to bless others in Your name.

In Your Name,

Pastor Jason
