Love never fails! Predicting the future will fail. Mystical experiences will fail. Knowledge will definitely fail -- it will vanish away; probably at a time when you desperately need it. We have a very limited view of the totality of the universe we live in. All of our abilities and wisdoms cannot keep us united. On to of this we are all immature in certain areas of our lives. We need to put away childishness whenever we find it in our lives. This is the only way we will be able to come to the unity God has planned for us as one of the local expressions of the life that Jesus brings to His people -- the Church.
Do not settle for the basics this temporal life has to offer. Reach for the depths of abundant life that becoming one brings to those who love each other in the manner described in scripture. Commitment can fail, determination and great effort can fail, even great discipline fails in the fatiguing trials of this life but love, true, godly love never fails. It always finds a way to reach the other person and reconcile. This is true because God is LOVE!
That is my passionate desire today for all of us. I desire this as a pastor, as a friend, and as a fellow believer. I pray that armed with God's love we will overcome every obstacle between us and come to the unity God has planned. Then we will see His Blessing flow as a mighty anointing to minister to each other with the surplus flowing into the community He has placed us in and engulfing them with His Love that never fails to reach the other person. If we can unite in His unfailing love, we will see salvation overwhelm that community!
