For you were bought at a price; therefore glorify God in your body and in your spirit, which are God’s.
1 Corinthians 6:20
Paul’s puts his point clearly here as he sums up his discussion on Christian behaviors. He is answering those who say that as long as they believe in Jesus they can live however they want. Paul says that every part belongs to God, not just the invisible ones. Since we have been paid for, we need to glorify our Owner. Later in this letter, (chapter 10) Paul will tell us that whatever we do, eat or drink we should do for His glory.
It doesn’t get much more basic than eating or drinking. Jesus is interested in every mundane activity of our life. He has paid for every part of it even the “boring”, “unimportant” parts. Jesus is concerned about these seemingly insignificant areas because when we live His way we glorify Him. For us we will be eternally reward for the smallest conformity to Christ’s image. Even the giving of a glass of water in His Name will not be overlooked.
Jesus’ own lips told us, “If you love Me, keep My commandments.” (John 14:15) Today let’s fix our hearts to glorify Him in the simplest of ways. Jesus is our best Friend. His plans for us are for our good and His Glory. We can trust Him to lead us even in the most intimate area of our life.
For His Glory,
Pastor Jason
